Bru are the second largest population in Tripura. Their have different identity and traditional dress. They celebrate different cultural festivals like Boisu, Hojagiri, Goria etc. Among them Hojagiri and Boisu festival is most famous.
BRU Rinai
Rinai or Mnai is a traditional dress of Bru women and similarly to the traditional dress of the other indigenous communities in the north eastern indian states Assam, Mizoram, Manipur, Meghalaya.It is worn by wrapping it around the waist. Sometimes it is worn with “risa”. which is a piece of cloth wrapped around the bust. It is worn by the every Triprasa women in Tripura.
Risa
Risa is cover the chest part of body. In the yesteryears these garments were used to be woven by the ladies by home spun thread made from the cotton, but nowadays the threads are bought from the market and the risa is not worn, instead blouse is worn by most of Tripuri women because of convenience. In present-day young girls are wearing rignai with tops also.
